CAPÍTULO V, SIMON GAIGER

A modular system of pieces based on the sculptures of Simon Gaiger, which allows the wearer to experiment with the garment.

A representation and reconstruction of femininity in the most powerful way. Just like Fortuny with the body of a woman from the 20s, through the invention of a textile and a light and loose dress (Delphos) together with his wife Cecilia Madrazo. The folds and pleats fell straight and sumptuously on the skin and body of the woman, maintaining its shape and responding to body movement, inspired by the dresses of the classical age.

Simon Gaiger,

artist and reference in this project, embodies her own style of femininity, landscapes, narration or narrative and abstraction.

Each sculpture is influenced by the different stages of his life and his environment (a childhood in Africa and the Pacific, time working as a carpenter's assistant, the sea, engineering, history and mythology; drawings and thoughts collected in notebooks of black and gray sketches that fill his home and studio in Wales) In his sculptures there is a tension of opposing forces that I try to recreate in the garment itself (elements that push against each other and balance). He always tries to invite the viewer to participate in the work.

The color used in them unifies and accentuates the play of light, an important element also in the garment.

It is the energy of the forms and the universality of the theme that give this project a lasting resonance.
